Experiencing Reiki

Our state of health is affected by the state of our ki. If our ki is low, the body becomes weak and more likely to feel stress, have pain, and become ill. We may feel more vulnerable and unable to cope with the daily goings on in our lives. If our ki is high and flowing freely, we experience happiness and better health. We feel less pain and are better able to move through life with ease and clarity.

Our body can naturally heal itself, but only if our ki is balanced. Physical conditions such as injury or trauma as well as negative emotions such as fear, worry, anxiety, anger, lack of love for self and others can lead to an imbalance in the body.

During a treatment, the Reiki energy flows through me to the recipient, releasing any negative, blocked energy and recharging it with positive energy.

Reiki is a tool that brings balance to the body, encouraging physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Reiki can be beneficial to people who are:

~ ill or injured. Reiki can help to reduce pain and speed up  the healing process.

~ going through a tough time - a divorce, a death of a spouse or close friend. Reiki brings a feeling of calm.

~ stressed or anxious. Reiki brings relaxation and tranquility.

~ depressed. Reiki can increase energy and help to increase the ability to engage in life and take on challenges that come along the way.

I give Reiki treatments in the Circle of Peace, my tepee, but will come to you if you are unable to travel. I also give Reiki long distance. The Circle of Peace is a quiet place to be with the healing, loving energy of Reiki and the sacredness of the tepee. A Reiki session usually lasts one hour.

"Love of animals is a universal impulse, a common ground on which all of us may meet. By loving and understanding animals, perhaps we as humans shall come to understand each other."

~ Dr. Louis J. Camuti

The Reiki Experience for Animals

All animals, big and small, young and old, domestic and farm, strong and weak, striped and polka dotted benefit from Reiki, in the same way people do.

If an animal is ill or injured, Reiki works in conjunction with other medical treatments to reduce side effects and promote recovery.

Reiki brings calm and quiet to an animal that has been abused, or distressed or depressed from a move or a loss, or one that is coming into the world or crossing over.

Reiki is a way to help your animal and to show your love.

"If you want to get close to the horse, you have to get close to yourself. Then the horse can come to you."

~ Carol Nichols

The Reiki Experience for You and Your Horse

Reiki has had an incredible impact on the horses in my life and me. The following story explains a life-changing experience for me and is the reason I offer Reiki to horses and their humans.

When Czammy first came into my life, he was a proud, stubborn 19-year-old Arab and not a touchy-feely kind of horse. He didn't dig being groomed and doted on for hours at a time - he just wanted to get out there and ride. I wanted to smother him with love and kisses. We had some good times, but there were many battles.

Czammy's knee had been broken years and years ago, but being the proud Arab, he didn't let it stop him. In fact, I had been riding Czammy for about a year before I found out. A couple of years later, his knee got worse and he started to come up lame after our rides. I began giving him Reiki. Within minutes of placing my hands on his knee, his head would drop and he'd lick and chew. I would then continue with the rest of his body. This became a ritual for us. He would stand there quietly for a long time, soaking up the Reiki energy. This silent time gave me the gift of just "being" with Czammy and he with me. Not brushing, tacking, or riding - just "being". I was learning to understand his behavior and that he was my teacher - we had the battles because I wasn't listening to what he was saying.

Our relationship evolved into one that was loving, trusting, and harmonious. We both learned to trust and to be, together.

Czammy is still riding (with no lameness) and stubborn as ever at age 24.

Horses and their Humans are partners - and if either is experiencing physical pain or negative emotions such as fear, anxiety or stress, their relationship can suffer, in and out of the saddle. Giving Reiki to horse and rider helps both to relax, and healing can begin at physical, mental and emotional levels.

Reiki for the Horse and Human: I will come to your horse. Horses benefit more from the Reiki experience in their own environment. I first scan and listen to your horse's body, then place my hand on any areas in need. I will continue to give your horse Reiki as long as your horse asks for it...it could be 5 minutes or 60 minutes. Again, it's up to your horse. For the human, I give Reiki sessions in the Circle of Peace or will come to you.

I also offer a workshop called "The Reiki Connection for Horses and their Humans." See the Happenings page for information.
